Can I ask you a question?
Have you ever heard of "burnt chop syndrome?" I heard the phrase once being used to describe that thing we all do as mamas when we put ourselves last on the list, or put ourselves on the back burner. We'll make sure everyone else has got a nice chop, and we'll save that burnt one for ourselves.
The intention, of course, is beautiful. It comes from a place of selflessness and wanting the best for others.
I totally get it- I did the same thing when I became a mother. But, if I could be a little vulnerable here- I gave and gave to my kids until I woke up one morning realizing that I felt unfulfilled. Of course I love my kids, and of course they bring me joy- but I needed to focus on me as a person (separate from being a mother and partner).
It's like the old saying goes, you can't pour from an empty cup.
And so I slowly started incorporating things that I really enjoyed doing into my life. Whether it was sipping tea and reading a book on the balcony before the kids woke up, doing 20 minutes of pilates in my room, buying something that I really liked, or going on a solo adventure- I found that by doing those small things I was giving my kids the best thing I ever could, a happier and more whole me!
As part of this new focus- I took a trip to Italy and ended up being photographed by Clare Fischer. I put on this pink, sparkly gown, started twirling and she captured my joy SO perfectly that I immediately remember the feeling each time I look at the image. It was a trip just for me, and when I see this image? I see me, Sally.
I would love for you to experience that same feeling. So I invite you into my studio to celebrate YOU. To have a morning that's just about you. To get your hair and make up done, dress up, experience what it's like to be a model for a day, and create some gorgeous photographs of yourself that you truly love and can look back on and cherish. Just you. What do you say?
Chat soon,
Sally
